Screen Printing vs. Embroidery vs. DTG for Lacrosse Apparel — What’s Best?

Screen Printing vs. Embroidery vs. DTG for Lacrosse Apparel — What’s Best?

When you’re building lacrosse apparel that stands out—whether for your team, program, or your personal collection—the decoration method matters just as much as the garment itself. Screen printing, embroidery, and DTG (Direct-to-Garment) all bring different strengths to the table, and choosing the right method can impact durability, appearance, and cost.

At Goose It, we use a combination of these methods across our lacrosse apparel lineup, primarily screen printing and embroidery, depending on the design and the garment. Here’s what you need to know.

Screen Printing: Best for Big, Bold Lacrosse Graphics

Screen printing is a classic method—and for good reason.
It’s the most durable and most vibrant option for large artwork, bold graphics, and team designs. If you love oversized back prints or front-and-center logos, screen printing is usually the top choice.

Why Screen Printing Works Well:

  • Ideal for big, solid graphics

  • Extremely vibrant colors

  • Durable through practice, washes, and weather

  • More cost-effective for larger runs

This is why many of our tees and hoodies use high-quality screen printing—it delivers that crisp, bold Goose It look.

Embroidery: Premium, Professional, and Built to Last

Embroidery is the luxury option in the apparel world. It adds depth, texture, and a high-end feel that printed methods simply can’t replicate. Whether it’s a clean chest logo or a custom team emblem, embroidery remains one of the most professional and durable decoration methods.

Why Embroidery Stands Out:

  • Looks and feels premium

  • Adds dimension and texture

  • Extremely long-lasting

  • Perfect for logos, monograms, or small placements

The only downside?
It’s more expensive to produce, especially for large or complex artwork. That’s why embroidery is best used strategically—for logos, iconography, and clean, sharp branding.

At Goose It, we use embroidery on select apparel pieces where quality and elevated style matter most.

DTG (Direct-to-Garment): Ideal for Detail, Not for Large Solids

DTG is the newest of the three decoration methods and is best known for its ability to print very fine details, gradients, and thin-line artwork. It prints directly onto the garment—like a high-resolution printer for clothing.

Strengths of DTG Printing:

  • Great for small details

  • Perfect for thin-lined artwork or intricate designs

  • No setup needed for small batches

However, DTG isn’t the best choice for big, solid graphics such as large logos or heavy ink coverage. Large DTG prints can feel stiff, fade quicker, and lack the pop that screen printing provides.

At Goose It, we use DTG only when a design requires extremely fine detail that can’t be captured with screen print.

Which Decoration Method Is Best for Lacrosse Apparel?

It depends on your goals:

  • Large logos, bold artwork, team wear → Screen Printing

  • Premium chest logos, elevated style → Embroidery

  • Highly detailed, thin-lined designs → DTG

At Goose It, we carefully choose the best decoration method for each product. While screen printing and embroidery are our primary techniques, we’ll use DTG when a design truly calls for it.

No matter the method, our focus is always the same:
Make lacrosse apparel that looks incredible, performs well, and lasts season after season.
